Meet the Mergies: Anthony Lagana

Jon Gitlin
Senior Content Marketing Manager
@Merge

Welcome to another edition of Meet the Mergies, a content series that spotlights the wonderful humans who work at Merge.

Today’s edition features Anthony Lagana, a product marketing manager who works out of our SF office.

Anthony does anything and everything at Merge. He takes on a variety of sales enablement activities, product messaging initiatives, and more traditional marketing tasks, like content production.

You can read on to learn more about why Anthony joined Merge, what he works on day-to-day, why he likes working here, and more!

1. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I love running long distances outside. I ran the Philadelphia Marathon last year and managed to enjoy (and finish!) it.

I also enjoy reading in coffee shops and trying out new hobbies. Most recently, I’ve tried getting into skiing. I’m still pretty bad at it, so I’m open to any advice you might have!

2. Where were you working prior to Merge?

I was actually an undergraduate student at University of Pennsylvania. I studied English, which I think translates well to Marketing.

3. What attracted you to Merge?

The founders, Shensi Ding and Gil Feig, have amazing energy and a passion for the integration space that you couldn’t find anywhere else.

I also wanted to join a startup, as I knew that’d give me a chance to take on a wide range of projects and develop quickly.

4. What does your typical day at Merge look like?

It really varies day to day and it’s evolved quite a bit since I joined a few years ago. That said, I’m typically enabling sales through a range of internal documentation and training. I also help run our webinars, take the lead on building out various web pages, and create educational content, like videos and data sheets.

5. What do you like most about working at Merge?

Since our product is constantly evolving and our business is quickly growing, I’m consistently taking on different projects that force me to get out of my comfort zone and grow. I like to say that working at Merge is like getting an MBA—except they pay you to be here!

I also really appreciate the broad exposure I’ve gotten to marketing. I don’t think I could take on such a diverse scope of work elsewhere.

6. What keeps you excited about working here?

The people! I’ve met some of the smartest and funniest people I know through Merge, which has made working here so fun and memorable.

Merge is hiring! Visit our careers page to see our open roles.

“It was the same process, go talk to their team, figure out their API. It was taking a lot of time. And then before we knew it, there was a laundry list of HR integrations being requested for our prospects and customers.”
