Meet the Mergies: Kim Chuc

Jon Gitlin
Senior Content Marketing Manager
@Merge

Welcome to another edition of Meet the Mergies, a content series that spotlights the talented, intelligent, and wonderful people who work at Merge.

In this edition, we're excited to shine the spotlight on Kim Chuc, a partner engineer who works out of our New York City office.

Kim learned how to code in an increasingly popular way: by attending a coding bootcamp (she attended an all-women coding bootcamp, Hackbright Academy). Since then she's thrived in multiple roles; she began as a software engineer and then pivoted into partner engineering.

You can read on to learn more about Kim!

1. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I love to bake and craft! I’ve recently started knitting and ceramic classes, and I’m currently working on a Weasley sweater (Harry Potter fans know what I’m talking about), just in time for Winter!

2. Where were you working prior to Merge?

Prior to Merge I worked at Correlated, which offers a product-led revenue platform. I worked as a software engineer and focused on building out the core features of their product.

3. What attracted you to Merge?

As a software engineer, I understood the pain of having to build integrations from scratch. Once I heard about Merge and their approach to helping organizations tackle integrations, I knew the company would be a game-changer.

In addition, I wanted to have a high impact, and after learning more about the role and getting to know potential team members throughout the interview process, I knew the partner engineering role was exactly what I was looking for!

4. What does your typical day at Merge look like?

I get to interact with multiple teams on a daily basis! One minute you can find me solving problems—like figuring out the best way to refactor logic in order to optimize runtime for our integrations—alongside our post-sales and engineering team to reach the optimal solution. The next minute you can find me working closely with sales to ensure our prospects are getting all their technical questions answered; this can be anything around our Common Model, remote data, etc.

5. What do you like most about working at Merge?

It comes down to a few things:

I love being able to see the direct impact my work has on building integrations for customers. A lot of the small decisions we make build up to larger scale solutions that benefit our customers and their clients. In addition, we’ve got some of the most intelligent and talented people here, and everyone is so communicative, collaborative, and supportive. I’m always looking forward to collaborating on projects/tasks with different teams.

Finally, female representation in tech matters! Having a female CEO is incredibly inspiring to me and it makes me so proud to work here.

6. What keeps you excited about working here?

There’s an endless amount of opportunity here and I feel like I’m learning something new each and every day.

We’re also at a very exciting time in Merge’s history; the company is growing quickly, and I love that our partner engineering team is playing a pivotal role in its growth!

Our partner engineering team is hiring! Check out the open roles on the team by visiting our careers page.

“It was the same process, go talk to their team, figure out their API. It was taking a lot of time. And then before we knew it, there was a laundry list of HR integrations being requested for our prospects and customers.”
