Meet the Mergies: Ryan Sullivan

Welcome to another edition of Meet the Mergies, a content series that spotlights the wonderful humans who work at Merge.

Today’s edition features one of our partner engineers, Ryan Sullivan.

You can read on to learn why Ryan joined Merge, what he works on day-to-day, why he likes working here, and more!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I love being active. I particularly enjoy playing golf and basketball, but I’ve also gotten into running lately and am currently training for the New York City Marathon.

I also like playing the piano, traveling with family and friends, and listening to a wide variety of podcasts.

Where were you working prior to Merge?

I was a software engineer at Oscar Health, a technology-focused health insurance firm, where I worked on an automation engineering team that automated core insurance operations processes. ‍

What attracted you to Merge?

I wanted to join a group of smart, driven people who work together to build a great company. When I first visited the New York office and met the Merge team, I knew I had found exactly what I was looking for.

I was also drawn by the opportunity to help build out and improve Merge’s integrations, as they're the backbone of what the company offers.

What does your typical day at Merge look like?

On a typical day, you’ll find me building, maintaining, or enhancing a particular integration.

Regardless of the project I’m working on, my team and I are always addressing two key questions: How do we solve the problem? And how do we make this problem easier to solve in the future?

Every project brings on a fresh set of intellectual and exciting challenges, like a new puzzle ready to be solved.‍

What do you like most about working at Merge?

My favorite part of working at Merge is the community. Whether it’s dinner in the office, a happy hour, or one of our famous pickleball tournaments, we all really enjoy spending time together.

We are truly a team, and the camaraderie and friendships at Merge are palpable any time you walk through our offices.
