Meet the Mergies: Tom Martens

Welcome to another edition of Meet the Mergies, a content series that spotlights the wonderful humans who work at Merge.

Today’s edition features our wonderful technical support engineer based out of Berlin, Tom Martens.

You can read on to learn why Tom joined Merge, what he works on day-to-day, why he likes working here, and more!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I love collecting and playing all kinds of board games. I’m also a bit of a railway nerd; I might visit a nearby railway museum or spend some time train-spotting on weekends!

Every now and then I also like to celebrate the Cologne Carnival; I love all of the colorful costumes and people celebrating everywhere.

Where were you working prior to Merge?

I previously worked at n8n.io, a workflow automation solution, where I managed a small and lovely support team.

What attracted you to Merge?

I loved the idea of working at a company that unifies and simplifies programmatic access to data stored in complex enterprise systems. Also, when I first heard about Merge, I tried out a number of CRM integrations that I previously integrated with directly (costing me several weeks of work). I was impressed by how easy it was to use Merge instead.

What does your typical day at Merge look like?

I usually spend the first hour of the day reading and responding to all the messages that came in overnight and prioritizing the open support requests. I'll then investigate each issue reported by our users and either share possible solutions or, if necessary, work with our engineering teams to get rid of those pesky bugs.

What do you like most about working at Merge?

I’ve been blown away by how easy it is to reach and get help from absolutely anyone at the company. I also love our company-wide get-togethers; it’s so much fun to meet and bond with colleagues from all over the world!

But Merge isn’t just a Unified
API product. Merge is an integration platform to also manage customer integrations.  gradient text
“It was the same process, go talk to their team, figure out their API. It was taking a lot of time. And then before we knew it, there was a laundry list of HR integrations being requested for our prospects and customers.” gradient text
