Our sellers and marketers used to pursue accounts that fit our ICP and used just a few ATS providers. Now that we’ve added many more ATS integrations through Merge, we can pursue any accounts that fit our ICP. This has increased our TAM by leaps and bounds.
Building and maintaining deep ATS integrations in-house wasn’t scalable
BrightHire offers a copilot that supports interviewers, hiring managers, and recruiters throughout the hiring process. The copilot can do everything from automatically writing notes that the interviewer can use for their feedback forms to sharing analytics that can help organizations close target candidates faster and at a higher rate.
To help the copilot work effectively for each customer, BrightHire needed to build integrations with their customers’ ATS solutions and pipe a wide range of data from these ATS solutions into BrightHire.
The team at BrightHire started their integration journey by connecting to Greenhouse, but after realizing how long and tedious the process was, they knew that they needed to outsource their ATS integrations moving forward.
According to Will Decker, the VP of Engineering at BrightHire, “Each integration would take our team roughly 3 weeks to build and countless more time to maintain. Since we needed to add several ATS integrations, it became clear that we needed to pivot and look at 3rd-party tooling.”
As they reviewed different vendors, Merge became the obvious choice to Will.
Using Merge’s ATS Unified API to support a variety of critical workflows
Within a few weeks, BrightHire was able to build to Merge’s ATS Unified API and add 10+ ATS integrations to their product, including Workday, Ashby, Workable, BambooHR, and Freshteam.
Now that BrightHire offers all these integrations, their platform can sync a wealth of data to their product, including candidates’ first and last names, positions, departments, email addresses, scorecards, candidate stages, and more.
This allows them to automate several processes:
- The copilot can identify the interviews they can and can’t join (based on rules set by the customer).
- Interviewers can access critical information while they’re speaking to a candidate, such as the questions the interviewer should ask, the position the candidate is interviewing for, and information from the candidate’s application.
- Candidates can receive an email notification the day before their interview, letting them know that their call will be recorded but that they can opt-out.
- Data that’s critical for analysis—like the time it took interviewers to submit their scorecards, candidates’ scores, whether candidates get hired or rejected, the stages candidates are in, etc.—gets populated in BrightHire’s “Insights” tab, allowing recruiting teams to filter through the data and uncover actionable insights for improving their interview processes, quickly.
Saving countless hours on building and maintaining integrations while expanding their TAM exponentially
Using Merge, BrightHire estimates that they’ve been able to save two to three weeks of their engineers’ time per integration build. Coupling this with all the ATS integrations they’ve added through Merge, Will estimates that their engineers have already saved hundreds of hours.
Equally important, they’ve used Merge’s Integration Observability tooling to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues quickly. According to Will:
By adding more ATS integrations, BrightHire has also been able to expand their TAM. “Our sellers and marketers used to pursue accounts that fit our ICP AND used just a few ATS providers. Now that we’ve added many more ATS integrations through Merge, we can pursue ANY accounts that fit our ICP. This has increased our TAM by leaps and bounds,” explains Will.
Will and his team believe that the partnership with Merge is built to last for the long run. “Merge consistently adds ATS integrations, endpoints, and features to help us access more custom data. This pace of innovation makes us confident that Merge can continue to support our integration needs for years to come.”
